11 Daily Maintenance Actions to Preserve Your Machinery

Have you ever wondered what you can do to make your machinery last longer? Keep in mind that public works and agricultural machinery are used intensively for long periods, which can lead to wear and tear on their components over time. So, what can we do to maximize the lifespan of every part of your machinery? The solution is simple: invest in maintenance.

Daily Maintenance Actions for Your Machinery

You know the saying, “A wise man is worth two”? This saying perfectly applies to this situation, as being prudent and investing in maintenance will help you avoid major problems in the future.

When it comes to performing this maintenance, there are daily tasks you can undertake to effectively preserve your machinery. Take note of them:

Action 1: Check the oil and coolant levels every day.

Verify that the oil pressure of the machine is correct. If it isn’t, you’ll need to refill it to the maximum recommended level. If the machine has a pressure pump, ensure the level is maintained at all times.

The coolant level should also be within the recommended range. If your machine does not have an automatic level indicator, you will need to manually refill it to the maximum recommended level.

Action 2: Every day, check that the vacuum hose is properly connected to the equipment, and correct it if necessary.

Action 3: Verify if there are any foreign materials in the brushes or filters of the machines (lint, dust, or paper).

Action 4: Every day, wipe down the suction nozzle with a damp cloth, especially if you’re working with gypsum or lime residues.

Action 5: If your machine has a roller with humidity control, always set it to the maximum humidity. This will prevent the roller from clogging or leaving marks on the wall.

Action 6: It’s important that each time you clean the roller of your machine, you let it dry completely. This will help prevent moisture buildup and potential damage to the roller. Additionally, it’s crucial to clean the roller every time you perform a priming test, as the roller gets dirty during the process. Whenever you conduct any maintenance or replace parts, be sure to clean the roller as well.

Action 7: If your machine has a turbine, make sure to clean it every week. This will prevent dust and dirt from obstructing the suction hose.

Action 8: You should grease all the moving parts of your machine every week. It’s recommended to use graphite spray for this purpose.

Action 9: Always clean the equipment with water. Avoid using abrasive products or solvents for cleaning.

Action 10: If you need to make a repair or change parts, it’s advisable to do it overnight. This way, your machine won’t be exposed to dust and dirt during the day.

Action 11: Whenever possible, keep the machine protected in an appropriate space (garage, shed, etc.). This will help you avoid dirt, dust, and other weather conditions. In any case, do not place it directly under sunlight.

Put these 11 actions into practice, and you will see how you can extend the useful life of your machinery without it experiencing any failures.
